Giving Tuesday 11/27 1 of 4 - History

Making Disciples Who Make Disciples

In leading up to Giving Tuesday, we wanted to share a brief history of what God has been doing over the years at Milford Lake.

  • In 1986, Shawn met his in-laws at Milford Lake’s West Rolling Hills.

  • In 1989, Shawn and Cheryl got married in Abilene, Kansas near the lake. They spent their honeymoon in a small town  called Wakefield on the lake.

  • In 1991, Shawn and Cheryl led youth ministry camp outs at West Rolling Hills. The Lord blessed with fruit from those 15 years of campout ministry.

  • In 2006, Shawn and Cheryl started a non profit called Extreme Encounters that purchased Extreme Kansas Camp at Milford Lake State Park for 13 years. They have led this annual renewable short-term lease at Milford State Park. God has blessed the ministry with over 300 Disciplemaking Interns.

  • Now, as InFaith missionaries, Shawn and Cheryl have been given the opportunity to develop a Scout Camp into a Disciplemaking Training Camp called Camp Cutteru. We will continue Extreme Kansas Camp while developing Camp Cutteru. Praise God for the long term lease that lasts until 2039.

It is amazing to stand on the shores of Milford Lake, looking back at how God has worked through Extreme Encounters in the area surrounding it. We are excited for what God will continue to do through Extreme Kansas Camp and Camp Cutteru.
