Our History

Extreme Kansas Camp was started by Gary Osborne from Colorado in 1999. His desire was to use the camp to train his youth staff. He and his leaders gave the camp the name Extreme Kansas Camp because of the Extreme weather in Kansas. After leading the camp for seven years Gary met Shawn Ammons at a national leadership event. After seeking wise counsel Shawn and some kindred spirit friends formed a non-profit they named Extreme Encounters. Extreme Encounters purchased Extreme Kansas Camp in 2006.

Extreme Encounters has been blessed to invest in over 300 Disciplemaking interns. God is using these interns throughout the world to live out the mission of Extreme Encounters. The mission statement is to raise up, sharpen, and launch servant leaders into the world for God’s glory.
